Reigate & Redhill Choral Society is excited to present a programme of choral and orchestral music in a variety of styles.
The first half starts at the Passion with Paul Carr’s moving “Stabat Mater” (Mary, the mother of Jesus, standing at the foot of the Cross) which we had hoped to present two years ago. This contemporary and very moving piece is followed by the peaceful tranquillity of Vaughan Williams’ famously lyrical “The Lark Ascending”, with the violin solo played by Andrew Laing.
The second half features Puccini’s exuberant “Messa di Gloria”, a piece which owes as much to the operatic tradition as it does to the Church!
We are pleased to announce that the concert is conducted by Penelope Jane Homer in her first concert with us, and we are excited to be joined by two up-and-coming young solo singers, who are starting to make names for themselves in London, tenor Ryan Vaughan Davies and baritone Ross Fettes.
The concert is accompanied by the chamber orchestra, Surrey Pro Musica.
Adult tickets are priced at £15 for advance ticket sales and £17 on the door. Student tickets are £7.50 and tickets for children aged 10 and under are free.
Please note that, to keep everyone safe, we would ask you not to come to the concert in the event that you feel unwell, or are testing positive for COVID-19.
