Cecilia McDowall: A Fancy of Folksongs
Sarah Quartel: Voice on the Wind
Featuring the world premiere of the SATB version of
Shruthi Rajasekar: Indigo
7 pm at St John's Church, Redhill (RH1 6QA)
Reigate & Redhill Choral Society is excited to present a programme centered around Spirituals and Folk Songs, for our Summer Concert.
We are also very pleased to be performing another piece by Sarah Quartel, whose A Winter Day was very well received at our Christmas concert last December.
The opportunity to commission an SATB version of Indigo by Shruthi Rajasekar, a US-American composer of South Asian descent, jointly with Southampton Philharmonic Choir, alongside support from Cole Bendall, adds a further element of interest to the programme. This piece, previously only available for mens' voices, will be receiving its European Premier in any form, in addition to the World Premier in this new SATB version, on this occasion.
The concert is conducted by our Music Director Cole Bendall, features Scottish mezzo-soprano Ellen Smith, and is accompanied by Matthew Rickard.
Refreshments, including
Pimm's, Strawberries & Cream, will be available in the interval.
We are very pleased to be able to support local charity, The Orpheus Centre, through this concert.
