Other Musical Groups

The Reigate area is rich in musical life, with frequent performances from any one of a number of amateur groups. Lovers of choral music are spoilt for choice; as well as Reigate and Redhill Choral Society, the area is home to Concordia (Crawley), Horley Singers (Horley), Epsom Choral Society (Epsom), Dorking Choral Society (Dorking), and East Surrey Choral Society (Caterham), all within just a few miles of Reigate, as are Buckland and Betchworth Choral Society, who are our choral neighbours in the beautiful village of Buckland. Surrey is also the home of the Leith Hill Music Festival, in which we have competed and won in the past. Operas, operettas and musicals are staged by East Surrey Operatic Society, Surrey Opera and The Opera Club of Reigate and Redhill.

Slightly further away, in Hove, are Sussex Voiceworks, one of the other groups conducted by our music director Peter.

If the occasional instrumental piece in our concerts leaves you craving more instrumental music, the area is also home to Redhill Sinfonia (formerly The Redhill Society of Instrumentalists), the second oldest amateur orchestras in the country. There are long-established links between RRCS and Redhill Sinfonia, as their members provided the orchestra for our earliest concerts. More recently, we returned the compliment by providing some of the singers required for their performance of the Beethoven Choral Symphony. A few miles down the road are Dorking Chamber Orchestra, who specialise in 18th and 20th century orchestral repertoire. In the other direction, the Tandridge.info website lists everything that's happening in the Tandridge area (not all of it musical!).
