Supporting Choral Singing: The Anne Garton Bursary

In 2000 Anne Garton, a long-standing member of Reigate and Redhill Choral Society, sadly passed away. In her memory, a Bursary Fund was established to support individuals of limited financial means who wish to join the choir. The Bursary is awarded once a year and covers the annual subscription fee (i.e. all rehearsals) and music hire costs for the year's programme. Any current or new member is welcome to make an application for the Bursary. A small sub-committee assesses the applications for the award.

The Anne Garton Bursary Fund is open to anyone who meets one of the following criteria and hence requires support to meet membership costs:

  • Those who are unemployed, on income support, or the statutory minimum wage;
  • Those who are in full-time education (proof of student status will be required);
  • Those between the ages of 15 and 25 not in employment and whose families are unemployed or on income support.

    If you have any questions, or would like to be considered for the Bursary, please e-mail us and we will be happy to help.

    Through the Anne Garton Bursary we hope that more people might be encouraged to join the Society, but also that existing members may be able to take advantage of the financial support available.
