There are a whole host of websites dedicated to Elgar. For starters, may we suggest the following:
Please note that Reigate and Redhill Choral Society cannot be held responsible for the content of external websites.
Look at any picture of the mature Elgar, and you'll immediately notice that he had a very large moustache. The Bank of England love people with facial hair, as it makes banknotes much harder to forge, so it was no surprise that on 22nd June 1999, Elgar started to appear on British banknotes.
For an opportunity to win £20, we asked On which banknote does Elgar appear? Is it (a) £5 note (b) £10 note or (c) £20 note. The correct answer was (c), the £20 note, and the lucky winner, drawn before our concert on 30th June, is Chris Reeve. Congratulations Chris!
